Out of a burden to reach the Deaf of Seattle and the surrounding Puget Sound area, Pastor Les Leckron and his family established the Lighthouse Deaf Baptist Church in the heart of downtown Seattle. Previously, he was Pastor to the Deaf at Faith Baptist Church located in Tacoma, WA, under the leadership of Pastor Mark Smith. While Pastor Les Leckron was at Faith Baptist Church, his family reached many Deaf for Christ and made an impact in the Deaf community.
It was then in May 2008, the Leckron's answered God's calling to establish a Deaf Baptist Church. Seeking His Word, Work, and Way, it was Genesis 12:1 - 2 that spoke to his heart that it was time to build a work. Starting with 15 Deaf meeting in their home, they preached and taught them to pray for the ministry and reach the Deaf for Christ. Then by July, they were able to reloacate the ministry to the Capitol Hill area of Seattle where they now meet at the Hearing, Speech, Deafness and Center. This location met the needs of the ministry while using the location. Currently, the church is meeting the Bible Baptist Church in Everett, WA. Within one year after establishing the ministry, the attendance tripled of 45 Deaf and 13 Deaf saved.
Currently, Lighthouse Deaf Baptist Church conducts 9 ministries of reaching the Deaf through the Van, video, CODA, and Auditorium Bible Class ministry. Along with these ministries, we have our weekly Bible classes, Deaf Bible Institute, and Training Union. We are looking forward to 2010 as we spend the year studying our theme as "Be the One", Jude 22. Each month we have a different aspect of our yearly theme.
